My Costume for Two different Halloween Parties

OK! This is what everyone has been waiting for...To see my wonderful talent that I have. I want to remind you that I painted this all by hand and I sewn all the fur like pieces on it by needle and thread. I also used a knitting loom to make the fur pieces too. I tell ya my hands, my neck and the headaches that I got through all this, but ya know what in the long run all that pain was well worth it! This is a TOTALLY AWESOME Costume and the best one I ever did before! My Mom is especially going to be amazed! My Counselor is too, she told me to find something else to do then just sit on my butt and do nothing. Hahaha She is going to LOVE this! I know I do!!! I can't wait to put it on Friday!! I will show you my costume stuff for now, but you will have to wait till friday for the Final photo - with me in it!!!
I have been talking about making one of these costumes for two years!! My own wild style and I did it: This right here is just characters from the Musical "Cats"
Cats The Musical Characters

We have two Halloween parties to go to :-) One at the LCO Casino in Hayward (No gambling we don't do that anymore) just the contest! Oct. 28th 2011 wooo hooo can't wait! Then on the 29th we are going to the Hersey Cave Bar over by Gene & Jody...We are gonna have some fun indeed!! This year I decided NOT to dress Scary like. My Costume is a Cat from the "Cats the Musical" This ROCKS!!!!!!!!!! I am SO PROUD of myself!!! Woot woot!!!

Now for photos from the start to the end ENJOY!
I bought a Unitard from Dance Wear Solutions. It was solid black mind you. :-) That is when my mind went WILD and I had so many ideas going on at once in my head!
WATCH!!
Let me tell you about this piece hahaha Well for starters if my friends remember me talking about how I bought that headpiece with cat ears and it was so beautiful and white and had furry pieces to go with it to wear on my hands. Like this photo below:
Well I called the company and I was disappointed in my purchase from "The Costume Store" and what it was, the edges were like burnt and it never fit my head right, plus it was NOT like the photo at all. So they told me to keep it and they would send me another one. Ok I thought no big deal but I questioned why they didn't take it back anyhow, but hey ok no problem. I received the other one and would you know believe it or not the SAME THING. So I called them again about it and then they told me to toss them in the garbage and they would refund my money anyhow. They did refund my money! Me throw these fur pieces away???? NO WAY! So I used what I could off them and I cut them in pieces to sew on my costume. That is just what I did in different places. :-) as you can see in the above photo.
Ok so I had to have some different fur pieces, so I got creative! This is what I ended up with in below photo:
Nice eh! Can you believe I knitted about 20 of these on a knitting loom. Not all at once believe me. I tend to get very bored of the same thing over and over and then I can't still. I I did these while watching tv at night, in the car, camping and etc. I was so glad to get them done believe me, oooooo my fingers!!!!
Then I got some of my fabric paints out and my paint brushes ready to go! Yes this is the SAME paint that will be on my skin too. :-) Yes I have done it many times. Read on...

Ok Here is my Hot Foam Latex piece "Small Cat Nose piece" I bought from "North Fur" company. I checked all over the place for one and even ebay. I guess just aren't popular this year and so it was hard to find what I wanted. This will be painted along with parts of my face with the paint that I showed you above. Yes it comes off easy. This is what I use to glue it on my face and take it off.
Then I bought a pair of long solid black gloves and they had long nails glued to them. I painted on the pads of the cats paw as you see:
Then here is my wig that I am going to be wearing...Keep reading and then I will show you how I styled it later on. (I have always loved styling wigs!!)
What it looked like when I bought it:

I bought this wig from Wild Cat Wigs. The hair is pointed because they are suppose to resemble cat ears.
I bought these wonderful leg warmers from a gal in Canada and I LOVE these because this is the style around here to wear anytime around your shoes. I have seen plenty around here lately. Cold out maybe.
 Are you ready?
Get set!
GO!
SHOW TIME!!
I worked long and hard on this costume, it took me a Month and a half to get it all done. Yep it is behind me. Are you Ready?
I was sewing fur on here.
Yep you can see my paint strokes on this teaser photo. Same one I posted on FB.
Yes I really hand painted this! Cool so far eh?

I will have BETTER photos of it on Friday for you with ME IN IT!
MORE Photos ...Keep looking below...
The backside

Now for the coat below if I get cold. Ya know there is a couple of items that I cannot wear because it will show lines lol So I am sure I will be cool at first lol Yes I did the same to the coat which is made out of a long sleeve shirt and cut down the middle. Yes I painted and hand sewn on this too.

NOW for my wig that I worked on tonight and Don wore it so I could fix it LOL. He looks so thrilled lol NOT! But he was such a sport about it! LOL
How did I get it to stay this way? Lets say Tacky glue, Hairspray, and I even painted some of the front to wear I need it to be. Oh yeah I even cut it some.
Poor Don!! lmao
The ears are standing up using just tacky glue. So Awesome!!

Hahahahahaha such a good sport he was but such a goof ball!
So what is my makeup going to look like? Guess you'll have to wait and see eh!
*wicked grin*

Do I have a LOT of potential?
Yes I do and one of my dreams was to get my name of the credits on a movie someday. Why do you think I want to live closer to Hollywood in California!
I would love to work in the theater at the Red Barn Theater in Rice Lake and help with the makeup. So who do I get a hold of to help do these things?
I want to paint body art on people!!
My disability does not have me!!
I am a FIGHTER!!
I AM A ARTIST INSIDE!!

Don's costume tomorrow!

Halloween Years of Fun

Halloween is in the air! One of my favorite times of the year. So many memories of Halloween to share.

I remember dressing up as Miss America one year when I was a young gal.
Then I remember dressing up as a Jester.
(My Grandpa & I)
Then in my teen years I was a skeleton
(Tiba in the musical Wizard of Oz too in High School)
(Devil is Pat and I am the skeleton)
(My Mom designed this costume)
Then one year I dressed up as a Green faced witch and we decorated my Grandma's yard. The porch was enclosed all the way down to the end with black sheets we hung up. I sat all the way at the end in a chair, I sat still and held onto all the candy in my black cauldron. We had a sign for the little ones to come all the way down in there to get their candy. They were scared and many left crying. lol I frightened them. It was fun back then! (not able to find that photo)

Then there was another time I remember us kids decorating our place on Dewey St. with spider webs, grave makers, candles, and we even used one of those black tool boxes that you put in the back of your pickup, yes we used it as a coffin. Hahaha Those were the days. I have always wanted to be part of a spook house to scare others! LOL

I remember going to spook houses when Iw as a kid. One year I was scared to death of them but then down the road we went to several and they were a blast! I also remember the fun hay rides at the Olbrich's House every halloween and then having a Bonfire afterwards with the best hot chocolate ever! Halloween parties and bobbing for apples and more. Those were the days! FUN times!
(My sister and I)
In my teen years on up I started dressing as Vamps, She Devils, Witches and more scary stuff. I remember one time being a ghoul white ghost and we had black lights to make me glow. Wow those were some fun times!
My brothers dressed up in Snoopy The Red Baron Costumes, clowns, silly things. My sister was a Ewok one year. That reminds me that Ewok costume was carried down the line and even my son wore it one year.

(Pat, My son,Myself and my niece)

I remember dressing up as a Cat a couple of different times and I painted my face really cool.

Cat
Vampira
Ghostly
Wild
Then when I got remarried to my wonderful new husband Don. That is when we started dressing up too. He makes a wonderful "Grandpa Munster Vampire". Here in this next photo we were Gothic Vampires and believe it or not we won $75 one time in Red Wing MN at a bar with our friends Gene & Jody. It was fun!

"Grandpa Munster Vampire"
Then one year I wanted to be even more creative with our makeup. So I went to ebay and I looked for realistic Prosetic Foam Latex pieces and I found some great buys! Don & I were Vampires once again. SPOOKY!! I remember going to the Spook a Rama at LCO Casino in Hayward that year and this one guy couldn't stop staring at me and he watched me constantly. When I walked near he backed off LOL that was so funny.
Found out that year what we could use for face paint instead of that cheap stuff from the store that easily comes off. You can use fabric paint "Creative" on your skin. So that is what is on our skin above. Cool eh? Did it wash off easy? Yes all we did was take a shower and it comes right off. You can also see the difference on our faces on this photo above and then go look at the Gothic Vamp looks. This one photo you can see that we have latex foam pieces added. We use a adhesive to glue it to our face. If you look at our ears we have pointed ears glued on also. Does it come off easy? Well I have special stuff to take it off or you can use rubbing alcohol too. Lots of Fun using these pieces! You can see the foam pieces here that we used:
Wild eh!!
That contest believe it or not we never won a thing! Those judges sucked that yr!They gave first prize to a Frankenstein guy that just stood by the wall all night long. Then another person that got a prize was a Mammogram box saying free mamagrams today.with guys head right there saying that he would check out your boobs with his mouth. what a joke that was! For us you would have thought we would have gotten something eh - we didn't! But we still had fun!!

After that we stopped dressing up for a few years and then when we moved to Arizona. We had a Halloween Party to go to at our Best Friends place. So we decided to dress up spooky like, it was all for fun so why not right! I was a Green Faced Witch and Don was a Vamp again. Since we had some latex pieces left from that one year we used them. This is the time that I got a nasty comment from a guy that said to my face and behind my back too. That how I was dressed wasn't Christian like. You know what happened to that guy after we moved back to Wisconsin in 2010? He was suppose to be a good friend and a very good Christian man in our little Christian family get together every friday night there. You tell me if he was such a good christian and he preached to everyone the bible scriptures, he taught sunday school at church, he came to me several different times before this party and preached to me about God and how I needed to call out to Him and so on and so forth! Then you tell me was if this same guy that sitting in prison doing time to this day for sexually molesting children that he is a true Christian?? He said to me that how I dressed up for Halloween isn't Christian like??? Ummm Excuse me Mr. what do you call what you did? I have dressed up for yrs on end and you know God has been there for me many times, I have had many of my prayers answered, angelic experiences, and more. I dress up for FUN only. I enjoy Halloween and dressing up but I am STILL a Good Christian Woman. Nothing wrong with dressing up for Halloween. But this guy?? He needs to sit there and rot in prison for what he did to several children and don't you dare preach to me I am not a good Christian Mr....
I had fun dressing up and you know what? I am still a child of God.

Ok well you are all probably wondering about that costume that I have been working on for over a month now for this year 2011. Well I will place it in my next blog tomorrow. I have taken photos of our outfits without us wearing them. I wanted to let you know that Mine was cheaper to make then Don's was and I bought his and it came with a mask. I hand painted and sewn everything on by hand on mine. It is a surprise and I am so proud of myself and you will be TOTALLY AMAZED what you will see with mine and how creative I am! I am still working on the wig and that will be done tonight also. Don has to be my mannequin so I can style it right. :-)

Hint:
One of the cats from Cats the Musical - Mine isn't this one - just a hint
But remember I painted and hand sewn on mine. When I got it,
it was a all black unitard up to my neck when I bought it. Tomorrows blog :-)
