Halloween Years of Fun

Halloween is in the air! One of my favorite times of the year. So many memories of Halloween to share.

I remember dressing up as Miss America one year when I was a young gal.
Then I remember dressing up as a Jester.
(My Grandpa & I)
Then in my teen years I was a skeleton
(Tiba in the musical Wizard of Oz too in High School)
(Devil is Pat and I am the skeleton)
(My Mom designed this costume)
Then one year I dressed up as a Green faced witch and we decorated my Grandma's yard. The porch was enclosed all the way down to the end with black sheets we hung up. I sat all the way at the end in a chair, I sat still and held onto all the candy in my black cauldron. We had a sign for the little ones to come all the way down in there to get their candy. They were scared and many left crying. lol I frightened them. It was fun back then! (not able to find that photo)

Then there was another time I remember us kids decorating our place on Dewey St. with spider webs, grave makers, candles, and we even used one of those black tool boxes that you put in the back of your pickup, yes we used it as a coffin. Hahaha Those were the days. I have always wanted to be part of a spook house to scare others! LOL

I remember going to spook houses when Iw as a kid. One year I was scared to death of them but then down the road we went to several and they were a blast! I also remember the fun hay rides at the Olbrich's House every halloween and then having a Bonfire afterwards with the best hot chocolate ever! Halloween parties and bobbing for apples and more. Those were the days! FUN times!
(My sister and I)
In my teen years on up I started dressing as Vamps, She Devils, Witches and more scary stuff. I remember one time being a ghoul white ghost and we had black lights to make me glow. Wow those were some fun times!
My brothers dressed up in Snoopy The Red Baron Costumes, clowns, silly things. My sister was a Ewok one year. That reminds me that Ewok costume was carried down the line and even my son wore it one year.

(Pat, My son,Myself and my niece)

I remember dressing up as a Cat a couple of different times and I painted my face really cool.

Cat
Vampira
Ghostly
Wild
Then when I got remarried to my wonderful new husband Don. That is when we started dressing up too. He makes a wonderful "Grandpa Munster Vampire". Here in this next photo we were Gothic Vampires and believe it or not we won $75 one time in Red Wing MN at a bar with our friends Gene & Jody. It was fun!

"Grandpa Munster Vampire"
Then one year I wanted to be even more creative with our makeup. So I went to ebay and I looked for realistic Prosetic Foam Latex pieces and I found some great buys! Don & I were Vampires once again. SPOOKY!! I remember going to the Spook a Rama at LCO Casino in Hayward that year and this one guy couldn't stop staring at me and he watched me constantly. When I walked near he backed off LOL that was so funny.
Found out that year what we could use for face paint instead of that cheap stuff from the store that easily comes off. You can use fabric paint "Creative" on your skin. So that is what is on our skin above. Cool eh? Did it wash off easy? Yes all we did was take a shower and it comes right off. You can also see the difference on our faces on this photo above and then go look at the Gothic Vamp looks. This one photo you can see that we have latex foam pieces added. We use a adhesive to glue it to our face. If you look at our ears we have pointed ears glued on also. Does it come off easy? Well I have special stuff to take it off or you can use rubbing alcohol too. Lots of Fun using these pieces! You can see the foam pieces here that we used:
Wild eh!!
That contest believe it or not we never won a thing! Those judges sucked that yr!They gave first prize to a Frankenstein guy that just stood by the wall all night long. Then another person that got a prize was a Mammogram box saying free mamagrams today.with guys head right there saying that he would check out your boobs with his mouth. what a joke that was! For us you would have thought we would have gotten something eh - we didn't! But we still had fun!!

After that we stopped dressing up for a few years and then when we moved to Arizona. We had a Halloween Party to go to at our Best Friends place. So we decided to dress up spooky like, it was all for fun so why not right! I was a Green Faced Witch and Don was a Vamp again. Since we had some latex pieces left from that one year we used them. This is the time that I got a nasty comment from a guy that said to my face and behind my back too. That how I was dressed wasn't Christian like. You know what happened to that guy after we moved back to Wisconsin in 2010? He was suppose to be a good friend and a very good Christian man in our little Christian family get together every friday night there. You tell me if he was such a good christian and he preached to everyone the bible scriptures, he taught sunday school at church, he came to me several different times before this party and preached to me about God and how I needed to call out to Him and so on and so forth! Then you tell me was if this same guy that sitting in prison doing time to this day for sexually molesting children that he is a true Christian?? He said to me that how I dressed up for Halloween isn't Christian like??? Ummm Excuse me Mr. what do you call what you did? I have dressed up for yrs on end and you know God has been there for me many times, I have had many of my prayers answered, angelic experiences, and more. I dress up for FUN only. I enjoy Halloween and dressing up but I am STILL a Good Christian Woman. Nothing wrong with dressing up for Halloween. But this guy?? He needs to sit there and rot in prison for what he did to several children and don't you dare preach to me I am not a good Christian Mr....
I had fun dressing up and you know what? I am still a child of God.

Ok well you are all probably wondering about that costume that I have been working on for over a month now for this year 2011. Well I will place it in my next blog tomorrow. I have taken photos of our outfits without us wearing them. I wanted to let you know that Mine was cheaper to make then Don's was and I bought his and it came with a mask. I hand painted and sewn everything on by hand on mine. It is a surprise and I am so proud of myself and you will be TOTALLY AMAZED what you will see with mine and how creative I am! I am still working on the wig and that will be done tonight also. Don has to be my mannequin so I can style it right. :-)

Hint:
One of the cats from Cats the Musical - Mine isn't this one - just a hint
But remember I painted and hand sewn on mine. When I got it,
it was a all black unitard up to my neck when I bought it. Tomorrows blog :-)
